Another new boarder at the Pet Hotel. Grandparents found him--or he found them--and I'm helping him go to a good home. He's cute but has lots of energy!

Happy birthday to me. My aunt and uncle gave me an ice chest on wheels--i've wanted one for a while. Mom and dad gave me a bright red hummingbird feeder and Richard and the kids got me the new camera.

Does this give you the goose bumps or what???? I was putting the cover on the gas grill and this guy was just sitting there. He or one of his kin snuck into the house last week and Richard found it on the wall next to Avery's play kitchen. I hate 'em!!!!

So, what is this stupid bird?? Well it is the woodpecker (a/k/a little pecker) that has decided to peck on our steel chimney. Not only does he peck there, but pecks at 5:30 a.m. when I have a hang over! Sweet! Richard started throwing balls at him. It sounds like a little jack hammer when he is pecking.

Mother Goose Day. Payne and his buddies as the three blind mince. There were some amazing costumes, some parents really outdid themselves.

Field day. It was so hot, very very humid and extremely windy. Avery is like the class mascot and loves the kids, especially the boys, and they adore her. I caught them during the break time cooling off with all attention on Avery. These are Payne's best buds and Avery knows all their names.
I love Payne's face in this picture. Pure happiness. This race consisted of placing your forehead on the noodle, spinning 3 times then running to the cone and back.

Birthday Party!!!!!! Payne's birthday party was this afternoon. We celebrated a bit early to accommodate the school kids, this was the only available date until July, we will be out of town on his birthday and so we could share the pool and costs with birthday friend. We shared the party with one of Payne's classmates. This was the least stressful party I've ever hosted. Seriously. Here are a few pictures.

The other birthday boy!

Some of the boys fighting over a little girls teapot. go figure!

Avery playing butterfly dressup. She was looking up at her antena.

Another Sunday, May 18, 2008 post
I was over visiting Her Wandering Mind's site and he posted her child's funny comments which made me thing, yeah, kids say the darndest things. So, with that in mind, I'm gonna add that into my blog when my kids say the darndest things. Here is a few from this week:
1. when walking home the neighbors' dog is running crazy and Payne asks why the dog was running crazy. What am I supposed to say? I tell Payne to ask the dog. His response? "you know I can't speak dog."
2. Today Payne comes to me very serious and says "Mommy, the air conditioner in the white fridge is broken. You know, I can't hear it. You know you have to have an air conditioner in there to keep the drinks cold."
3. See the other Sunday post about Avery and her 'he loves me' post.

Jannie-Pie puts up with so much from Avery its a wonder the dog has not bitten her. She is the best mutt we have ever had. Ya know, since the kids came into our lives, we never take pictures of the pets anymore. This was probably one of the few pictures of Jannie that we have unless she happens to be in the background.

He loves me! That's all Avery says. She gets a flower, pulls each petal off one by one and says "he loves me" then blows the petal into the air. she never says "he loves me not." Silly girl.

Lots of pictures with the new camera so be patient folks.First we have Payne, goofing off. Notice the big gap in his front teeth?
One of my faves from the weekend.
Notice the vibrant colors.
Then we have this picture. I told you we were potty training but she had to wear the apron. Gonna archive this one for when she is older!

What is that? Strange picture. Well, Avery decided today that her diaper hurt so I put her in panties. A couple accidents--no biggie. So it was bath time, she was starting to have an accident but as soon as I put her in the tub, she started to pee. So Aunt Margaret and I decided to stick her foot in the warm bath water to make her pee. No luck,

School programs are so much fun--right?? The kinda thing only a parent would love. Of course, until your kid is the one that has to act like a idiot and make every parent look at you in wonder like "WTF kinda drug is your child on?" This is another one of those crappy pictures--with luck I'll have a new Canon Digital Rebel or Nikon D40 next week when the stimulus money comes through. I'm gonna be a good American and spend some money!

Sunday, May 11, 2008--Mother's Day
What a nice mother's day. I received some very beautiful roses, a cute Care Bear card that plays music, a handmade pillow from Payne, a hand-made little pot with a snake on it that Payne crafted from clay, painted, glazed and fired in art class, and two wonderful cards from him. My uncle sent a mother's day email with vibrant pictures of flowers, and i did no cooking. I did make a brownie an my family came over for warm brownies and ice cream after church.

And, as you know, i live next to the cemetary. Every Mother's Day, this lady's birthday, etc., this family has a gathering at her grave. Today it was a full fledged pachanga with an eight piece Mariachi band that played. She must have really been someone special. I bet there were 50 people there. It was a busy day over there all day anyway.
